I love making studies of faces, close-up and slightly exaggerated, trying to capture an expression in the eyes. Aiming for simplicity but often using quite defined outlines and sometimes elements of collage. I am a great admirer of Alice Neel's work - the boldness of her portraits.

Landscapes and seascapes are also strong themes in my work, I begin by drawing outside in the weather and the light. I find landscapes are very 'freeing' and I can be more expressive, working in a looser less defined way.
